Singapore triathlon - April 2011

 The Triathlon Association of Singapore presents the OSIM Singapore Triathlon, held in the area around East Coast Park. Participants swim 1.5km in the open sea, switch to a bike for a 40km cycle ride, then complete a gruelling 10km run.

The Singapore Cable Car provides an aerial link from Mount Faber on the main island of Singapore to the resort island of Sentosa across the Keppel Harbour. Opened on 15 February 1974, it was the first aerial ropeway system in the world to span a harbour.

People say that Singapore is a food-lover's paradise. Its true, the array of great food is impressive. One of the things proponents of great food in Singapore won't tell you is the best place to enjoy food at an affordable price, in old-Singapore style, that is, sitting outside next to the road, with great food and a large Tiger beer, is Geylang Rd.

While other parts of Singapore offer flash restaurants, gourmet foreign food, nouveux composites and food courts, Geylang Rd serves up great food, mostly chinese in design at great prices as low at $3 for a decent plate full. Come check it out!

Bukit Timah - great place to get away from the city in Singapore

Those looking for a fresh-air escape in Singapore should head to Bukit Timah, the forested hill adjacent to the large water catchment areas in central Singapore.

Bukit Timah is open everyday from 6am-7pm and is free. There are several hiking trails across the 3,000+ hectare site. Bukit Timah  is known for its amazing array of flora and fauna. The English naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace stated that in his explorations of the far east he had never seen a place that could equal the bio-diversity of Bukit Timah.

Remember to bring comfortable footwear and plenty of water. Bukit Timah is around 12km from downtown. Take bus 117 from Bugis area (ask locals to direct you to the bus stop) price $1.40.

Singapore enjoyed a lovely day today of fairly decent weather. Mid-afternoon showers sent shoppers scurrying for cover, but that didn't last long. Down at Harbourfront shoppers and families browsed at their leisure.

Exploring Singapore one will quickly notice the array of hottie around. They are all over the place and one is reminded of the old saying' hot comes in all colors'.
